13 September 2026, Maligaon: The parish community of Mary Help of Christians, Maligaon, came together to joyfully celebrate the birthday of their parish priest, Rev. Fr Barnabas Mardi, whose birthday falls on 16 September. The celebration was moved to 13 September for the convenience of the parishioners.
The celebrations began with the 7.00 am Holy Mass, presided over by Fr Barnabas and concelebrated by priests of the Maligaon community. The parishioners offered special prayers for their pastor’s well-being and continued ministry.
Fr Jecky Sangma, Assistant Parish Priest, introduced the celebration and expressed the parish community’s heartfelt gratitude for Fr Barnabas’s dedicated service and leadership. Mr Nelson, one of the hostel boys, echoed similar sentiments before the Holy Eucharist and invited everyone to pray for the good health of the Parish Priest.
After the Eucharistic celebration, the parishioners gathered around Fr Barnabas, sang birthday songs, and honoured him with traditional Gamochas as a token of love and respect. The celebration continued with the cutting of the birthday cake, followed by coffee and snacks shared by all present.
In his response, Fr Barnabas thanked the entire parish community for their love, support, and cooperation in the life and mission of the parish.
